Talk about rotten luck! Today while making a payment, I discovered that the familiar [E-Payment Card Payment] button had vanished into thin air….. I went to the ABC (Agricultural Bank of China) official site and found that just 16 hours earlier, ABC had suspended most e-payment card payment services:
Announcement Regarding the Suspension of E-Payment Card Payment Services
Dear valued customers:
To effectively guard against online payment risks and protect the security of customer funds, our bank will, at 20:00 on July 17, 2008, uniformly suspend e-payment card payment services for merchants selling non-real-name goods. Real-name merchants such as direct fund sales, airline ticket purchases, and tuition collection will not be affected for the time being. To continue using online banking smoothly and ensure the security of your funds, please visit one of our branch offices to obtain a dynamic password card or upgrade to a K-Bao user (see the link for the specific process).
