This online game is seriously strong — it might just make it big. After all, all kinds of wild, offbeat ideas can be openly explored and built out here. And the dev team’s bold exploration and fearless attitude will make this game grow fast.

I browsed the official forum for a bit and found some very entertaining discussions, including this one: Facepalm — the banner up there boldly proclaims “the first large-scale mythological wuxia online game”….

There’s also this thread, “Discussion about the baby-making feature”: Improving in step with the times like this, tagging along right behind God — the player — seeking truth from facts and keeping pace with the times, is bound to succeed.

All in all, though, this game really is good. Looks like it was made by Xianjian fans — go in with an appreciative attitude instead of nitpicking and you’ll get a lot of fun out of it. There are quite a few genuinely appealing features:

  1. The Six Spirit Orbs return to the jianghu; Shushan, Shaolin, Mingjiao… nine great sects rise together across the jianghu, brawling through the greenwood, blood and slaughter ready to erupt at any moment.
  2. Invent your own martial arts and forge your own Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms; found your own sect, carve out your own turf, open a school and become a grandmaster, spreading your heroic name across a hundred li of jianghu.
  3. The rich run escort jobs for extra cash — pull it off and be remembered forever; the broke team up to rob the escort wagons — blow it and lose everything. Running escorts through the jianghu: a cautious sailor sails ten thousand years; one wrong step becomes eternal regret.
  4. Main quests, side quests. Storylines, daily quests. Special quests, all kinds of quest combinations, setting the jianghu abuzz.
  5. It overturns the dull grind of killing mobs to level up, and shakes off the lonely plight of nobody caring about you. Green bosses, gold bosses, purple bosses — the martial heroes rise to fame.
  6. Li Xiaoyao, Zhao Ling’er, Yun Tianhe, Han Lingsha; a flawless companion-raising system lets you build your own dream team and bring classic wuxia characters back to life.

But I did spot one serious problem: the ICP filing number posted on the homepage of 仙剑江湖OL is fake, and this online game has no business license… I hope it gets fixed quickly. Even if grassroots players carve out their own kingdom, you still have to do things by the law.
