Regarding earthquakes, the I Ching says: “When yin and yang are exhausted, the four seasons are complete; when the firm and the yielding are exhausted, the four seasons are complete. When yin and yang meet, all phenomena are born. Yin and yang gather to become clouds, combine to become rain, congeal to become snow, rage to become wind, and fall into disorder to become fog.” “Yin lurks and cannot emerge, yang presses and cannot rise, and thus there is an earthquake,” as in the return of thunder beneath the earth. This is the general pattern of earthquakes as described in the I Ching. If applied to the six lines, there are specific patterns such as: “When a ghost spirit accompanied by the flying serpent moves in the Zhen palace, there will be unusual thunder and lightning; if it is on a chen line and transforms into chen, there will be a tornado or earthquake… When a ghost spirit accompanied by the flying serpent moves in the Kun palace, there will be an earthquake; if it carries a punishment, there will be collapse and fissure; when dragon and serpent are prosperous and moving in the Kun and Gen palaces, or when prosperous wood attacks weak earth, there will be an earthquake,” and so on.
According to the I Ching, after this earthquake there will surely be great floods and great winds. The great floods have already begun… What about the great winds? When will they come?
